Note: To ensure easy filing, name the original document according to the listed docket event.
1. Open the original document (Word Perfect, Word, Petition Preparation Software, etc.)
Ensure that signature lines have been signed (/s/name) as described in Preparing Documents for E-Filing. Case managers will call for a new document if the signature is not correct.
If you have questions regarding your petition preparation software, contact the software vendor.
2. A PDF file should not exceed a maximum size of 35 mg. If the single PDF file exceeds 35 mg consider dividing it into smaller size files. When filing the smaller files together, attach the additional files as supportive documents.
3. Print to PDF.
Click on “File” on the application’s menu bar.
Click on “Print” from the drop down menu. The “Print Dialog box” appears.
Select “Acrobat PDF Writer” or “Adobe PDF”, depending upon version of Acrobat, as printer selection.
Click the “Print” or “OK” Button. The “Save PDF File As” screen appears.
Name your PDF file.
Choose the appropriate directory by clicking the “Save in:” drop down menu.
Click on the save button to print and save to PDF.
4. Print a paper copy of the document for original signatures.
Note: For web pages, such as the Notice of Electronic Filing, print a paper copy if not printing to PDF.
5. Keep original signed document at your office.
